Welcome to your monthly rundown of Radiology news and updates. July has been yet another incredibly busy month in the world of radiology and medical imaging, so be sure to read on for the headlines.

EU AI Act Published

One of the biggest stories in Europe this month was the publishing of the EU AI Act.

This landmark regulation will impact all Radiology AI companies in their development, impacting everything from regulatory compliance to ethical considerations.

This act comes into force on August 1 2024, with provisions gradually following over the next three years.

FDA Approvals

As always, there have been several FDA approvals and clearances announced in July, including:

  • Subtle Medical received approval for their AI-powered synthetic imaging software – ‘SubtleSYNTH’.
  • Hyperfine announced clearance for their ninth-generation AI-powered ‘Swoop’ MRI system.
  • Milvue announced FDA clearance for their ‘Smartchest’ chest X-ray solution.

Funding Announcements

July has seen some huge investments in the world of Radiology AI, including:

  • Subtle Medical who’ve had a great month, announcing their $30m series B funding that will accelerate their global expansion, and launch of brand new AI products.
  • Deepc also raised a $13m Series A extension, taking their total funding to $30m.

Partnerships and Acquisitions

It’s been a busy few weeks for partnerships and acquisitions in the radiology market, including:

  • Flywheel.io announced their partnership with Mint Medical, combining their platforms to enhance data management and analysis across more sites and trials.
  • Annalise.ai confirmed a partnership with Raya Diagnostics, making them the first teleradiology provider in the DACH region to integrate their solution.
  • Just last week, Gleamer announced their partnership with Siemens Healthineers, now offering their ‘Boneview’ AI solution as part of the Siemens Digital Marketplace.
  • And it wouldn’t be an update on collaborations if Deepc had not added another AI partner to their ‘deepcOS’ platform. This time, that partner was Paris-based PAIRE in the nuclear medicine space.
