The Radiology Rundown: April Edition

April had been another busy month in the world of Radiology and Medical Imaging.

There have been plenty of new market approvals and the breast imaging space has been particularly busy with lots of updates surrounding SBI last week.

I’ll dig into some of the key highlights, but for a more thorough overview of the women’s health space, check out FemTech Foward by my colleague Lauren Pope.

FDA Approvals

Sticking with the Women’s Health space, San Diego based Mammography AI company Curemetrix, announced that they had received FDA clearance for version 1.6 of their cmAngio product, validating it for use on both Hologic and GE Healthcare Mammo platforms.

April started with AZmed confirming FDA clearances for their Chest X-ray solution, AZchest.

Medis Medical Imaging announced FDA clearance for QFR, their tool to asses angiography-derived coronary physiology in patients with ischemic CAD.

Clarius achieved FDA clearance for their Prostate AI solution.

Nanox announced FDA clearance for Nanox.ARC X, it’s new multi-source digital tomosynthesis system.

And finally, LUMA Vision achieved FDA clearance for VERAFEYE, their cardiac visualization platform.

Funding Updates

A quieter month than usual when it comes to funding and investment in the Radiology world.

Diagnoly announced their €5.5m Seed funding round, to support their growth in the Fetal ultrasound AI space.

Nuclivision also announced their Seed funding round of €5m to support their commercialization in the PET Image enhancement market.

Partnerships & Acquisitions

The biggest announcement in April was that of iCAD being acquired by Radnet, and integrated into their DeepHealth subsidiary.

This transaction is due to close later this year and is a huge shift in the Breast Health AI space.

iCAD followed this up with further partnership announcement with Ramsoft and then Microsoft just yesterday.

In the Stroke Care AI space, Methinks AI announced a strategic partnership with Medtronic.

And this week, Better Medicine confirmed their new partnership with American Molecular Imaging.
