We are seeking a talented and experienced Commercial Plumbing Designer to join our team in Fairfax, VA.
Job Overview: As a Commercial Plumbing Designer, you will be responsible for designing and engineering efficient, reliable, and code-compliant plumbing systems for various commercial projects. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to create detailed plumbing plans, specifications, and calculations. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our projects and ensure the delivery of exceptional solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive plumbing designs and layouts for commercial projects, including retail centers, office buildings, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, and other structures.
Perform detailed calculations to determine pipe sizing, fixture requirements, and pressure losses.
Prepare plumbing system specifications, including equipment selections, materials, and installation methods, adhering to relevant codes and standards.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other team members to integrate plumbing systems into the overall building design, ensuring compatibility and coordination.
Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify potential conflicts, design issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing plumbing systems and gather information for retrofit and renovation projects.
Work closely with project managers to ensure timely completion of deliverables and adherence to project schedules.
Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and plumbing codes and regulations to enhance design efficiency and compliance.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members, promoting professional development within the department.
Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to address their concerns, provide expert advice, and ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Design, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
A minimum of [4] years of experience in commercial plumbing design, preferably within an MEP firm or consulting environment.
Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and plumbing design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.).
Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and standards, such as IPC (International Plumbing Code) and ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers).
Demonstrated experience in designing plumbing systems for various commercial projects, including knowledge of fixture requirements, pipe sizing, drainage systems, and water supply systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating plumbing plans, specifications, and calculations.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and present ideas to diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and able to work independently.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or eligibility for licensure is preferred but not required.
