Geotechnical
At Metric Search, the Geotechnical division is split up into 2 teams: Geotechnical/Deep Foundations Contractors and Engineering Firms.
Geotechnical Engineers are involved in the analysis and monitoring of soil and rock conditions which are important when building foundations. They are involved in all aspects of the design of deep foundations, earth retention and ground improvement methods.
There are various important roles within geotechnical engineering. From field engineers that will go out to project sites for testing and monitoring purposes to senior design engineers and department managers that oversee all aspects of engineering.
Deep Foundations contractors on the other hand will manage the actual foundations projects and install these methods for projects ranging from large infrastructure to residential. Naturally, this work is usually more field based, with foremen and superintendents leading the drilling and operating teams. Project Managers and Estimators will bid for projects and then oversee them from cradle to grave.
These contractors are often very specialized and there are a large variety of foundations methods that will be used depending on the requirements for projects. These different methods include: drilled shafts/caissons, driven piles, CFA piles, micropiles, soil nails, soil mixing, grouting, helical piles and vibro/aggregate piers.
At Metric, we work with all mid to senior level positions up to C level and have had great success working with the market leaders as well as smaller, growing companies. It’s an exciting industry that’s growing exponentially and is becoming increasingly important on an international scale. ‘Research and Markets’ estimate that the worldwide geotechnical services industry will reach $5.5B by 2027.
